Hiking to Heal – Couch to Mountaintop & Beyond

Location: After registration, you’ll receive an email with the exact meeting location a few days before the event (not posted publicly for safety) with a private FB Group link to join our H2H community.

First Co-Ed H2H Kickoff Meetup - INDOORS
February 14 | 11am–1pm
We’ll gather indoors in a heated space in Ashe County near Grassy Creek/Crumpler, NC.

What to Expect for our first meet up:

  • Hot beverages (teas, coffee, or water) + healthy snacks

  • Introduction to Wild Haven Sanctuary — meet founder Trish McCall and her husband James

  • Vision and intention of HiKing to Heal

  • Round-table Q&A to hear your needs, wants, and how we can meet them together

  • A gentle, all-abilities movement sample session

  • Optional outdoor walk/tour of Wild Haven Sanctuary if weather allows — see, feel, hear, and experience the land (bring 🥾 if you plan to walk)

General information for future HiKing to Heal meet ups:

Weather: Check the forecast and dress accordingly. If weather is inclement or below 40°F, we’ll remain indoors and move gently to build connection, confidence, strength, balance, flexibility, and stamina as we live, move, and breathe.

Pace: We move at the pace of the slowest person. As we grow, progressive hikes and multiple groups will form for varying abilities.

Shoes: Tennis shoes minimum; trails may be muddy.

Safety Minimum: At least 3 trusted women hikers required for each hike.

Hikes Include:

  • Trauma-informed trail guide

  • Simple, brief yoga sessions

  • Free access to the WHS Growing Resource Hub (training tips, tools, and restorative resources)

Current H2H Offer:

  • Local Ashe County hikes (secular and faith-based options)

  • 2–4 hour guided nature experiences

  • Approximate fair market value: $75–$125 per person

Looking Ahead

  • Longer, more progressive hikes and excursions as the community grows

  • All explorations include trauma-informed guides, safety protocols, and adaptive options for all fitness levels
